BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE TATOO
Chances are that you will NOT be on the treatment chair within 10 minutes after arrival, we will first make sure that the design is good and so we have to determine size, make the print, adjust things, draw, cut, paste, etc. We therefore ask for understanding and patience, it takes as long as we need the time for it, luckily I am a rapid artist so usually it will all work out!
If you have booked an entire project with me , it is nice if you rub the entire zone daily with a body lotion so that your skin is more flexible, making the whole project a bit smoother. Avoid sunbeds before, during and after the project. If a skin is too tanned by the sun, we will have to reschedule the appointment.
Drink : consuming alcohol before you get tattooed is a no-go, almost everyone knows that, but try not to drink alcohol 24 hours in advance and preferably no coffee from 8 hours in advance, because both affect your blood and / or skin. Especially in realism it is important that you ensure that your skin (and body) is in optimal condition.
Make sure you've had a good night's sleep and have a full stomach before you get tattooed, doesn't have to be a whole Chinese rice table, but at least a light meal, otherwise you'll only make it more difficult for yourself. Also feel free to bring some snacks, fruit or a soft drink with sugar for in between, we only offer coffee, tea and water.
Tattooing creates an abrasion on your skin, which should therefore be taken care of afterwards. When you leave the shop, you may have received an ointment on your fresh tattoo and it will be covered with foil. This foil should stay on for at least 2 hours, but if you want to enjoy a good night's sleep it might be better to leave the foil on. That way you won't be bothered by your new tattoo while turning in bed. In that case, the foil can be removed in the morning. After removing the foil, the tattoo must be washed or at least rinsed with (cold) water. The following is the aftercare instruction that can be found on the site of the GGD:
During the tattooing, the skin is broken, causing a wound. If you take good care of the tattoo, it will take about 3 weeks for this wound to heal. If the tattoo is covered with a sterile compress or cling film, you can remove it after 3 to 5 hours. When I covered the skin with a dermal plaster like “second skin”, you have to leave it on until its removed by itself. Don’t pull it off or you might damage the tattoo.
Avoid bathtubs or swimmingpools for at least 6 weeks. Avoid sun or solarium also for 6 weeks. Sport isn’t a problem unless it’s a watersport you practice. If your tattoo is NOT covered with a dermal medical plaster, you should clean it on a daily basis (twice) and covered it after cleaning with a thin layer of ointment ( after shower, before bedtime and at least 1 time in between if you shower in the morning) . For cleaning you use water and if you spend time in an unclean environment, you should use a soap(ph neutral if possible).
